Tracy Dempsey Originals was launched as a producer of wholesale packaged confections and baked goods.  The signature sweet is the Original Bacon Pecan Brittle which was first produced in 2004 when Tracy was the pastry chef at Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale.  Since venturing on her own Tracy has found a niche as pastry chef to several Valley restaurants.  She has focused on producing desserts and confections with a twist on familiar favorites  Currently\, TDO desserts may be found at Nook Arcadia\, Nook Downtown\, Uncle Sal’s\, Anthem Golf Course & Country Club\, Arizona Country Club\, the Market by Jennifer’s Catering and AZ88.  Look for TDO confections at FnB Restaurant\, Changing Hands Bookstore\, Sphinx Date Company Palm & Pantry\, Garage-East\, Roosevelt Row in Terminal 3 at Sky Harbor Airport and Callaghan Vineyards and Dos Cabezas Winery in Sonoita.  An evolving menu of baked goods\, confections and savory items may also be found in the TDO retail shop co-located with ODV wines (her husband’s wine project) at 1325 West University Drive in Tempe and open Thursday-Saturday from 10 a.m-3p.m (TH) and 10 a.m.-5p.m. (Friday and 10 a.m.-4p.m. (Saturday). \nTracy is a member of the Blue Watermelon Project\, the Les Dames D’Escoffier International (LDEI)\, Guild Somm (she continues to study the magnificent world of wine) as well as a founding board member of the Joy Bus a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide meals to homebound cancer patients.  Most days you will find Tracy working in her kitchen\, teaching hands-on baking and cooking classes or greeting guests who visit her store front to pick up desserts\, wines and other local specialty items. \nMENU: \nMezze Platter: olives/pickled vege/roasted beet hummus/flatbread/eggplant relish/and more TBD\n(served family style)\nLamb Kofta\nSonoran Wheat Berry Salad\nHarissa roasted carrots/greens/labneh\nOrange olive oil cake/citrus salad/lemon thyme ice cream \nJOIN US AT THE HACKETT HOUSE!

SUMMARY:Try Pizza - "Wood Fired" - in your Own Backyard!
DESCRIPTION:The members of the Hackett House are very pleased to welcome Tempe Sister City member\, Dean Gambino\, to do a  “wood-fired” pizza cooking class for us. \nDean inherited his passion for cooking from his parents\, Salvatore and Theresa. For a time\, they owned a restaurant and catering business in Utica\, New York\, serving up Italian-American classics & regional favorites such as pasta Bolognese\, sausage and peppers\, Chicken Marsala\, tomato pie\, Utica greens\, and chicken riggies. The kitchen was the center of gravity in the Gambino home and Sunday dinners were the highlight. Olive oil and red wine brought family and friends together for a meal that lasted hours.  \nDean spent his high school and college years working at restaurants and for one of the largest Kosher caterers in upstate New York. It was then that he began to experiment in the kitchen\, testing new recipes and techniques. Though Dean ultimately followed his true calling into medicine\, he never gave up his passion for cooking. Some years ago\, he became determined to create a wood-oven for pizza making– without a wood oven. Many burnt crusts and one wrecked kitchen oven later\, he has come close to perfecting this technique on a grill.  \nHe and his wife\, Liz\, have been active members of Tempe Sister Cities for over 15 years. Liz has served as country director for Trollhättan\, Sweden\, since its inception in 2008 and Dean served on the selection committee for eight years. \nDean has been a practicing Otolaryngologist in the East Valley for 31 years. \nMENU: \nCharcuterie Board \nSeveral types of pizza – Margarita\, Chicken with ricotta and homemade pesto\, homemade fennel sausage\n \nCaesar Salad – homemade dressing\n \nHomemade (by Liz!) Cannoli \nand as always – – our included wine bar. \n(REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS AND THE CHINESE COOKING CLASS ON FEB. 3 AND RECEIVE A DISCOUNT OF $10 PER PERSON.)

SUMMARY:Tastes from the Jiangsu Province - Zhenjiang\, China
DESCRIPTION:Welcome Back Lianne Falk! \nLianne created Tastes of India last year at the Hackett House.  This year\, continuing the Chinese New Year celebration\, Lianne brings us food  originating from China where Tempe has a Sister City – Zhenjiang. \nA little autobiography about Lianne: \nMy love affair with all-things-culinary started off at the tender age of 8. I felt like peanut brittle….so I dragged a step-stool into the kitchen….and started making it! \nAt age 12 I qualified for a full fledged Bakery Course\, and was able to keep abreast with the adult students with aplomb.\nHaving lived and worked in 9 Countries (spread over 4 Continents: Asia\, Africa\, Europe and N America) helped me imbibe cultures and cuisines of a varied hue. My work experience with 3 international airlines was conducive to honing my culinary skills\, although I am a Marketing specialist by design and degree.\nIf I can express myself in 5 languages…..the more apt description of my ability to express myself with food\, can best be expressed in about 10 cuisines. The lure of Far East cuisines is addictive for the “thinking Chef” in me. I do have a thoroughly International background and mindset. Comparisons and Fusion is what I do best.  My parents named me “Li”anne because of Mums love for Chinese food…..so with a ‘fusion name’….how could I stay away from fusion cuisine….\n\nThe main appeal of the culinary art is cooking for friends\, and winning prizes was just an added bonus.\nI love sharing tips\, ideas and recipes.\nLianne’s Menu for the dinner: \nGyoza\, fried wonton\, steamed Shumai and a glass noodle salad. \nShrimp & mushroom fried rice \nGinger fried fish fillet \nChili aubergine \nDessert: \nLitchi and almond pudding
