Hackett House Cleaning Day

Hackett House Reopens For Our 27th Season

Hackett House’s Gift Boutique will reopen for its regular operating hours, Monday – Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm.
Volunteer Open House and Breakfast
Saturday, September 22, 2012; 9:00am - 11:00am
Discover the great volunteer opportunities available at Hackett House. We’ll be providing a complimentary continental breakfast for current volunteers or those interested in volunteering. Volunteering at the Hackett House is a great way to meet new friends, while having fun and giving back to our community! Register online.
Tempe Sister Cities’ Hackett House Showcase Open House
Thursday, September 27, 2012; 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Come see why Tempe is proud of Tempe Sister Cities and Hackett House’s award winning programs. Everyone is invited to join us at Hackett House to learn more about our programs, as well as volunteer opportunities. Complimentary catering will be provided by “Special Moments Catering”. Cash bar will be available.

6th Annual “Making a World of Difference” Awards and Banquet
Thursday, October 11, 2012; Tempe Center for the Arts; 6pm – Meet and Greet; Dinner to Follow
This annual Tempe Sister Cities event honors individuals who have made a substantial difference in people’s lives around the globe through their humanitarian efforts. The 2012 honorees have been chosen. Plan now to attend the 6th Annual “Making a World of Difference” Awards and Banquet on Thursday, October 11, 2012 to hear their amazing stories. Taking home the awards this year are:
- Dr. Edgar Rodas of Cuenca, Ecuador for his mobile medical project in Ecuador.
- Dr. Raul Osorio of Mesa, formerly of Peru, who has led dozens of medical missions to Peru.
- Derreck Kayongo, formerly of Kenya, for the Global Soap Project.
Entertainment by Maori visitors from Lower Hutt, New Zealand and a dance troupe from Cuenca, Ecuador.
Artwork by “Making a World of Difference” former recipient, Irma Turtle of Turtlewill, will be on display and for sale. Ms. Turtle’s humanitarian efforts in Africa and other areas are well documented.

40th Annual Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake

Passport to the World – Session I

Children ages 7-12 years will explore the food and cultures of four Sister Cities countries through hands-on activities and crafts : Germany, France, Macedonia and New Zealand. Student delegates will share their first-hand experiences. Lunch is included. $15 per child. Optional Adult lunch is available for $5.

Nutcracker Tea

Just before the craziness of the Holiday Season, come join us for an unforgettable experience. Sunday, November 18, 2012, Hackett House will be partnering with the Southwest Ballet Youth Company to present an unforgettable Nutcracker’s Tea with costumed dancers interacting with the children. Delicious sweets and savories prepared by the Chefs of the Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts. Costumes are encouraged. Tea is served from 1pm to 3pm and the cost is $24.00 per person.

Young Artists Reception

Mardi Gras

The ultimate Mardi Gras street party is a lot closer than you think. Hackett House brings the New Orleans spirit to Tempe for the jazziest jamboree in town. Geography Bee

Held at City Hall every year, the winner of each school’s Geography Bee for grades four to eight competes for the chance to win the overall Tempe Sister City Geography Bee.

Tibuktu Fundraiser Lunch

Soup for You…and School Supplies for Timbuktu! Join as at the Hackett House for a Fundraiser Lunch to supply desperately needed school supplies for our sister city, Timbuktu, Mali, Africa.
